A spectacular tour around
the historic heart of the Balkans and the stunning Dalmation Coast booked with Archers

DAY 1 (Saturday 29th July):
UK - Ljubljana (Slovenia).
Depart Gatwick at 9.45 am Arrive Ljubljana 12.45

DAY 2
(Sunday 30th July)
Ljubljana - Postojna Caves (Slovenia)- Zadar (Croatia)
(included sightseeing).
The day begins with one of the
real highlights of the tour - a visit to the Postojna Caves, one
of Europe's most extensive underground networks.
We then head across the border into Croatia along
the Dalmatian
Coast to Zadar, a picturesque, historic
town, the former capital of Dalmatia, for a little sightseeing and
an overnight stay. It was for centuries under Venetian domination
then Austro-Hungarian and after World War I it was ruled by Italy.
After World War II it became part of Yugoslavia. Now it is part
of Croatia, free, busy and full of life.

DAY 3
(Monday 31st July):
Zadar - Split (included sightseeing) - Dubrovnik (all Croatia).
We journey south to Split for sightseeing
in the largest Croatian city, spectacularly set on the beautiful
Adriatic Coast and
dominated by the splendid Palace of Diocletian,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Travelling further along the Dalmatian Coast we arrive in the
picturesque port of Dubrovnik for a two
night stay at the Dubrovnik Argosy
(pool). (B)

DAY 4
(Tuesday 1st August)
Dubrovnik (Croatia)
Standing on a promontory jutting out into the blue
waters of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik
is one of the Dalmatian Coast's
most beautiful resorts, famous for its striking buildings,
squares and fortified walls. It also has plenty of shops,
cafés and restaurants.
Our included walking sightseeing will give you
an insight into the history of this beautifully preserved medieval
city. (B)

DAY 5 (Wednesday 2nd
August)
Dubrovnik (Croatia) - Neretva Gorges (Bosnia)- Mostar
(Bosnia) - Sarajevo (Bosnia) (included sightseeing).
We start the day with a scenic
drive into the rugged countryside of the Neretva
Valley. Next stop is the former Turkish garrison town
of Mostar, now the chief city
of Hercegovina, to view its Turkish bridge, recently
re-built exactly as it was prior to its destruction. Then
it's on to the historic city of Sarajevo,
the capital of Bosnia-Hercegovina and the most Turkish looking
city in the Balkans - famous for its mosques, markets and bazaars.
Our included city sightseeing tour will give you an excellent opportunity
to get acquainted with the city and its architectural highlights.
Dinner and overnight stay at Sarajevo: Grand.

DAY 6 (Thursday 3rd August):
Sarajevo (Bosnia) - Plitvice National
Park (Croatia).
We travel north back into Croatia
to visit the country's best known National Park, Plitvice,
with its 16 lakes, wooded hills, waterfalls and cascades.
Optional walking tour taking in some of its lakes.
Overnight in the area. (B, D)

DAY 7 (Friday 4th August)
Plitvice (Croatia) - Zagreb (Croatia) - Ljubljana (Slovenia).
Included sightseeing.
First stop today for sightseeing
is Croatia's capital, Zagreb,
its medieval quarter, Gradec, packed with historic buildings,
including the Gothic style Church of St Marcus.
We then continue to Ljubljana for more sightseeing and
dinner and an overnight stay at. (B, D)
